Łukasz Boroń
Chief Executive OfficerŁukasz Boroń has more than 25 years of professional experience, including over 15 years in the railway industry. As Chief Executive Officer of CARGOUNIT he is responsible for the company’s strategy, human resources, legal affairs, and oversees its commercial and technical operations.
Łukasz also serves as a Board Director of the Association of European Rail Rolling Stock Lessors (AERRL), the Brussels-based organisation representing Europe’s rolling stock leasing sector and promoting sustainable rail transport. Before joining CARGOUNIT, Łukasz held several leadership positions at PKP Cargo, one of the largest rail freight operators in Central and Eastern Europe. He served first as Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Management Board, and later as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board. During his tenure, he played a leading role in the company’s successful initial public offering on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2013, one of the most significant public offerings in Poland’s transport sector. Earlier in his career, Łukasz worked in investment banking and financial advisory, holding positions at KPMG in Warsaw and Erste Bank in Vienna and Warsaw, where he advised clients on corporate finance, capital markets transactions, and strategy. Łukasz holds a degree in Finance and Banking from the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) and an MBA from IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Piotr Szymkowiak
Chief Financial OfficerPiotr has been involved in the railway industry since 2014 and has over 30 years’ experience in finance roles. He joined the CARGOUNIT Board of Directors after two years as Finance Director, during which time he successfully co-led the process of securing a financial investor. Previously, he was responsible for finance at a debt collection firm, in the telecommunications sector and in the banking sector. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Computer Science and Management at Wrocław University of Technology.
Rafał Hejmo
Proxy – Chief Technical OfficerRafał has over 25 years’ experience in the railway industry, specialising in maintenance management and locomotive fleet management. He holds an Executive MBA from Kozminski University in Warsaw. He has been with CARGOUNIT since 2015, where he is responsible for the company’s technical operations, including fleet management and rolling stock maintenance. He gained his professional experience in organisations within the railway sector, carrying out projects related to the repair and maintenance of locomotives and wagons, as well as fleet management for operators such as PCC Rail and DB Cargo Polska. He actively participates in industry initiatives at European level, including the work of railway organisations such as ERA and AERRL, where he is involved in the development of standards relating to interoperability and energy billing in rail transport.
sergiusz szulgan
Chief Commercial OfficerSergiusz has over 15 years’ experience in the railway sector. He has been with CARGOUNIT for over eight years, where for the past three years he has been responsible for the company’s commercial operations, business development on the domestic and international markets, and securing EU funding for the purchase and modernisation of rolling stock. He manages relations with key clients, the implementation of strategic projects and the securing of funding from the European Union. Previously, he worked at PESA Bydgoszcz as Head of the Type Approval Department, where he was responsible for the certification and approval processes for vehicles in international markets. He is a graduate of Poznań University of Technology and holds an Executive MBA from Kozminski University.
